Chesterton House Pre-Orientation Overnight 2017

Welcome to the Chesterton House and our Pre-Orientation program 2017!

Our program is designed to provide all incoming and interested first-year students and transfers the opportunity to transition from summer into the academic year in light of Christian faith.

  • 24-hour Experience: Chesterton House Overnight 2017 is a mini-retreat that transitions students from summer into their first year at Cornell. Join fellow first-year and some upper class students prior to orientation in order to meet classmates, learn about life at Cornell, and glean wisdom in the context of Christian fellowship. We will spend our time in team-building activities, learning from a Christian faculty member, reflecting, discussing with upperclass students, strengthening comraderie through meals, and relaxing as well. The Overnight takes place Thursday, August 17, 2017 - 1:00pm to Friday, August 18, 2017 - 11:00am. The cost of the overnight is $75.   • LaVida Wilderness Trip: Chesterton LaVida 2018 is a week-long retreat in the Adirondacks. This fabulous opportunity wil aid the transition from summer into the academic year with activities and thoughtful conversation about navigating college in light of Christian faith. Activites include backpacking, rock climbing, and a ropes course experience. This trip in in partnership with Gordon College and with the use of their facilities in Lake Placid, NY. Please read the FAQ at the bottom of this page for more details. The LaVida trip takes place Friday, August 11, 2017 to Friday, August 18, 2017. Chesterton House is an affiliate organization of Cornell University through Cornell United Religious Work, but the Chesterton House Overnight is not a Cornell program.
