Speakers Bureau

"Chesterton House has a clear mission of helping students integrate their faith with academic learning. Each year the impact of this ministry grows, and our congregation fully supports the vision. I encourage students to take advantage of the resources and relationships offered to you through Chesterton House."
-Rev. Dave Jones, Sr. Pastor, Bethel Grove Bible Church

The Chesterton House Speakers Bureau exists to serve Christian fellowships at Cornell by providing speakers and suggested topics for fellowship meetings and retreats. The speakers bureau is also designed to serve the needs of churches in Upstate/Western NY for pulpit supply, adult Sunday School, and/or retreats.

The Speakers Bureau consists of a series of talks—and movie nights—that have as their coordinated purpose the development of "thinking Christianly" about all things. The talks are clustered into five categories: Christian Worldview, Higher Education, Ethics & Public Policy, Integration of Faith and Learning, and Praxis.

Speakers include professors, pastors, campus ministry workers, and other members of the Chesterton House community who care deeply about a holistic application of the gospel to all of life and learning.

Chesterton House also encourages thoughtful engagement with culture by facilitating Movie Nights, during which we view and then discuss a film at some length. Movie nights may be scheduled during a regular fellowship meeting or as a special event. To date, we have watched and discussed two dozen films, ranging from Hollywood blockbusters to less noticed foreign and artistic films, all of which are reviewed here. We are happy to repeat showings of any films already viewed, or to take requests for other films. Below is a list of recommended films to consider for the coming year. Movie Nights are led by Rev. Steve Froehlich.

Dead Man Walking
Garden State
Hotel Rwanda
Lost in Translation
