A Conversation with Danielle Treweek Christian Theological Researcher, Author, and Speaker
Singleness: the unloved waystation on the road to marriage. Mainstream Christian figures from Tim Keller and Albert Mohler to James Dobson and John MacArthur would have us believe that marriage is the preferred state for everyone, singleness the unfortunate consolation prize or the waiting stage before something “better”. But, what if there’s something “better” about singleness that gets overlooked today? Christian scripture and tradition teach us that singleness and marriage are equal callings with their own riches and pains and with complimentary roles foreshadowing the eternal life that awaits us. Dani Treweek proposes that we turn from these shallow and contemporary caricatures to retrieve a richer and fuller sense of what it means to be human, both here and in eternity.
