Title: Jesus Christ and the Importance of History

Date: November 10, 2021

Time: 2pm ET

Description: Christianity appeals to history. Something happened, in the events concerning Jesus, as a result of which — so Christians claim — the world is a different place. But how does ‘history’ actually work? What can it do to help the tasks of theology and apologetics, and above all the work of the gospel?

Biography: N. T. Wright is an English New Testament scholar, Pauline theologian, and Anglican bishop. Author of numerous books and articles, he is perhaps best known in scholarly circles for his multi-volume work Christian Origins and the Question of God, which includes The Resurrection of the Son of God and Paul and the Faithfulness of God. On the popular side, his commentaries in The New Testament for Everyone series stand out for their clarity and readability. Equally at home in the church and the academy, Wright was the bishop of Durham from 2003 to 2010. He then became research professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at St Mary’s College in the University of St Andrews in Scotland until 2019, when he became a senior research fellow at Wycliffe Hall at the University of Oxford.
