Join as you can for our Just Show Up book club!
Just Show Up (JSU) Book Club is a book club without homework where people gather to read, listen, and discuss great books together. No need to commit to joining every week, the beauty of JSU book clubs is that you can jump in at any point and there is no preparation required! Participants can join in-person or via Zoom.
We will meet every Wednesday at CHOP House, located at 536 Thurston Ave, beginning on January 28.
On January 28th, we will begin our next book: Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliot
Through Gates of Splendor is a first-hand account of what it was like to be a missionary in the 1950s to the tribal nations in eastern Ecuador. This is the story of the five couples that journeyed there, along with the death and hope they were met with. Elliot wrote the book while still a missionary in Ecuador, and her strong spirit shines through the book, rejecting ‘tidy’ valorization of missionaries while displaying a firm trust in God.
Join us for dessert at 536 Thurston Ave for a time of reading and discussion together!
