Join us on a deeper dive into fundamental issues in biblical studies, hermeneutics, and criticism.
(Prerequisite: Logos 1100)
Students are expected to complete readings for each meeting session throughout this course. The workload is equivalent to a 1-credit course per semester. Taking Logos 1100 is a prerequisite, but exceptions will be granted if students have taken similar courses to Logos 1100 in the past. Any Cornell student is eligible to participate; the seminar welcomes committed Christians, nonreligious, and skeptics, but seminar participants should know that the seminar leader holds to the claims of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed of 381 and will be teaching from a Christian standpoint.
Sessions include discussion on readings of different perspecives and papers about the Bible and its interpretation. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of theories and methods which characterize the discipline of biblical studies and learn how to evaluate and apply these methods with the goal of faithful interpretation of the Scriptures.
Beginning again on Monday, August 31st, our meetings will be selected Monday evenings from 7:30pm–8:45pm at 111 Dr Jimmy Myer’s home.
