Chesterton House serves as an incubator and advisor to a number of registered student organizations.
The Cornell Claritas
Claritas is Cornell’s Journal of Christian thought, a student periodical that aims to motivate all members of the Cornell community to think about Christianity as it intersects with all aspects of life. Claritas hosts open business meetings on Tuesday afternoons, while also co-hosting with Chesterton House a conversation series with Christian faculty about faith, vocation, culture, and more. Claritas is affiliated with similar publications on other campuses through the Augustine Collective, and student editors are invited to participate in the Augustine Collective’s amazing annual retreat in January. The predecessor to Claritas was Translations Magazine. Click below to access the archive of past editions.
Veritas Forum at Cornell
The Veritas Forum is committed to courageous conversations. We place the historic Christian faith in dialogue with other beliefs and invite participants from all backgrounds to pursue Truth together. The Cornell chapter meets weekly to plan an annual forum among other events on campus.
The Thomistic Institute exists to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. TI @ Cornell gathers monthly at Chesterton House as a theology reading group to discuss the writings and ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church.
International Justice Mission
The International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery and other forms of violent oppression. As a chapter, Cornell IJM works to educate and raise awareness in our community, as well as to fundraise. IJM is a Christian-based organization, but all who are interested are welcome to take part in our meetings.
Campus On A Hill (COAH)
Campus on a Hill is a group that facilitates the networking and collaboration between Christian Fellowships and local Churches at Cornell and the Ithaca community towards the continual work of seeing God’s name proclaimed and glorified on Cornell’s campus.
