POSITION DESCRIPTION
CCSC Interns are employees of the Consortium of Christian Study Centers
In partnership with the Chesterton House, this position serves the study center at Cornell University.
About the Consortium of Christian Study Centers: CCSC exists to catalyze and empower thoughtful Christian presence and practice at colleges and universities around the world, in service of the common good. It achieves this by facilitating the flourishing of existing study centers, encouraging the development of new study centers, and raising awareness of the study center movement.
About Chesterton House: Chesterton House is an independent Christian study center founded nearly 25 years ago. We are strategically located next to Cornell University and an affiliated chaplaincy within Cornell United Religious Work. Chesterton House provides Cornell students with a comprehensive Christian college experience in a beautiful two-acre residential campus with a vibrant common life. Chesterton House exists to facilitate the discovery of the intellectual riches of the historic Christian faith, thereby empowering more faithful Christian living among students at Cornell University.
Accountability: The intern is accountable to the Internship Program Director of CCSC and to the Operations Director at Chesterton House. The Directors will coordinate the supervision of the position.
Responsibilities
Internship Partnership
- Maintain CCSC-related communication and commitments
- Fulfill communication responsibilities to CCSC Internship Director
Leadership Development
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as set forth by CCSC and Chesterton House.
- Train to lead a team operationally for select ongoing events.
Maintain a presence on campus and carry out regular relational contact work
- Regularly meet with student contacts and seek out new student contacts.
- Help integrate students into the local church.
- Help students get connected to CH programming, conferences, and other transformational opportunities, especially through the development and use of social media strategy, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and GroupMe.
- Facilitate partnerships between CH and other Christian ministries at Cornell University by visiting campus fellowship meetings regularly and participating in initiatives that foster unity among fellowships.
Provide support to Chesterton House’s living-learning community
- Take initiative to create a healthy culture and intentional Christian community drawing on historic resources of spiritual formation and practice, and model Christian living as a resident of the community.
- Work with CH staff in the development of content for use in CH programming.
- Work with CH staff in developing regular electronic engagement with students, including social media, email newsletters, and GroupMe.
- Nurture students learning to share their spiritual, physical, and academic lives together, learning disciplines such as service, love, mutual support, and forgiveness and reconciliation.
- Work with other CH staff to recruit prospective residents.
- Participate in leading CH spiritual formation and direction with residents.
- Provide hospitality and operational support for ongoing CH events and special engagement events on campus.

Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Internship limited to candidates up to 26 years old
- Some level of familiarity of intentional living communities
- Ability to recruit, motivate, empower, and equip others for leadership in ministry
- A team player and someone who can take initiative and work independently
